WAUKEE, Iowa — A local big-time fan of an Iowa State alum and current standout San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy had his wish granted Thursday.
Waukee resident 10-year-old Major Stube is like many young football fans in the state of Iowa, looking up to Mr. Irrelevant himself.
Major is living with cystic fibrosis, but that doesn't impact his immense love for the sport of football.
He has always wanted to meet Purdy and attend a 49ers game.
Thursday, he attended the Waukee Warrior's football practice with his father Drew who helps coach the high school team, unaware that Make-A-Wish Iowa was preparing to grant his wish to meet his hero.
The self-proclaimed "biggest Brock Purdy fan ever" was in shock during the practice when the surprise announcement flashed on the stadium's jumbotron.
Speaking of the Warrior's football team who helped announce the surprise, Major's dad, Drew said, "They have been such great influences on him. They're wonderful young men. I'm lucky to have them in my life, and I'm just proud to have them in his [Major's]."
Major would agree, saying the team is full of great role models.
Taking everything in, he said he is very excited his wish came true.
