JOHNSTON, Iowa — Quarterback Rocco Becht of the No. 22 Iowa State Cyclones decided he wanted to give back to families this Thanksgiving season before him and his teammates fly west to play Utah on Saturday.
“During the season is an awesome time to do this because it gets us away for a bit and gives us perspective on life,” Becht said.
The ISU sophomore reached out to We Will Collective, the NIL (Name Image Likeness) collective of Iowa State University. He was then connected with Fareway, Johnston Partnership and the Food Bank of Iowa to bring his vision to life by helping secure 175 turkeys for families in need.
“We’re happy to partner with student athletes like these and provide any assistance we can as a group to allow them to give back," Fareway CEO Reynolds Cramer said.

Thursday, Becht and teammates Jaylin Noel, Jaden Higgins, Beau Freyler and Abu Sama handed out the turkeys in the Fareway corporate headquarters' parking lot in Johnston.
“There are so many nice people in Iowa and I’ve been lucky to be up here around those who want to make their community better, so I’m happy to be here,” Becht said.
