DES MOINES, Iowa — The 2024 Iowa State Fair Queen has been officially named.
18-year-old Elli Blackford of Clarke County was crowned Saturday evening. She was chosen out of 103 contestants from across the state.
Lauren Long of Appanoose County was named first runner-up, while Nora Pickhinke of Sac County and Jada Litterer of Floyd County were named second and third runner-up respectively.
In addition to a crown, sash and trophy, Blackford received other perks: a total of $9,000 in scholarship money, crown necklace, floral bouquet, a $600 gift card and an Iowa State Fair brick from the Iowa State Fair Blue Ribbon Foundation.
Judges based their criteria on personality, attitude, awareness, leadership, citizenship, contributions to the community, overall appearance, charm and poise.
Blackford will hold the title until the next Iowa State Fair, which takes place on Aug. 7-17, 2025.
Past queens include Kalayna Durr of Henry County (2023) and Mary Ann Fox of Mitchell County (2022).
