Iowa State quarterback Rocco Becht to hold free football camp for Perry students

The free camp will be available to Perry students in fifth through eighth grade.

PERRY, Iowa — Iowa State quarterback Rocco Becht will hold a free summer football camp for students in Perry this summer, We Will Collective announced Wednesday.

Becht, a Florida native, is using money he made through NIL to host the camp. In addition, Becht plans to make a donation directly to the Perry Community School District.

"The state of Iowa and our community has given so much love to me and my family and we wanted to find a way to give back," Becht said in a statement.

Other Iowa State football players will serve as camp counselors. Together, Becht and his teammates will teach kids both technical and fundamental football concepts.

"This was entirely Rocco's idea and we are honored to be able to help him make this a reality," said Brent Blum, director of We Will Collective.

The decision to offer the camp to Perry students was an intentional one: In January 2024, a shooting at Perry High School and Middle School left two people dead and multiple people injured. Later in the year, Tyson Foods announced its plans to permanently close the Perry pork plant, the city's largest employer.

"Perry has gone through so much in the past year and this was a small way to show support and provide a fun day for the kids in Perry," Becht said in a statement.

The camp will take place on Saturday, July 13 from 9 a.m. to noon at the Perry High School football complex.

All fifth through eighth grade students in the Perry Community School District are invited to sign-up. Parents or guardians can inquire about signing up by emailing events@wewillcollective.com
