9-year-old chow chow Captain is a reminder to us all that the best things in life, sleep and snuggles, are free! After saying hello to soon-to-be friends, Captain found a place to politely plop down. When offered belly rubs, he happily accepted with a smile and tail wag.
"He's so sweet! He knows how to sit, shake, lay down, and was great in the car," gushed Sam Despotovich, Event Associate at the Animal Rescue League of Iowa. "He's just a little angel... Big angel I should say!"
Captain will gladly join you for a relaxed stroll and knows not to pull on his leash. He'll even jaunt back to your side if you call his name! Captain is looking for a calm household with plenty of nap spots.
Previous Iowa Live animal guests Ruby, Silo, and Ricky are still available for adoption at the ARL.

The ARL has a busy month ahead of them, starting with the Corgi Chase on June 15th! Watch corgis race across the field during halftime at the Iowa Barnstormers game. Registration is $35 per corgi and includes 2 human tickets. But don't worry, this isn't a corgi-owners exclusive event. Spectators can purchase tickets from the ARL website for $10. 50% of the proceeds go directly back to the ARL!
It's hard to follow up corgis, but kittens might just have a chance. Attend the Kitten Nursery Grand Opening at ARL Main on June 23rd from 11am-1pm. The facility will serve as a 24-hour care unit for some of the ARL's smallest residents. Visitors can tour the nursery, play with kittens, enjoy opportunities to win prizes, and more!
Last but not least, be sure to stop by Yappy Hour at Confluence Brewery on June 28th from 5:30pm-7:30pm. Humans are invited to enjoy an evening out with their pups. While you enjoy a beverage, your dog can sample a Bark-uterie cup! $1 from every sale goes back to the ARL.
