"She loves dog beds, even if she's too big for them!" Sweet potato Noni is available for adoption at the Animal Rescue League of Iowa

You can help the ARL by becoming a sponsor, helping homeless pets find homes at adoption events across the metro!

It was so difficult for sweet potato Noni to get out of bed this morning, she was almost late to her much-anticipated television appearance! But the moment she stepped into the station, Noni knew it was where she wanted to be; there are plenty of new friends to offer pets. Though we have to admit... this 3 year old Rottweiler did face a very difficult conundrum. Noni had to decide between playing with Iowa Live's collection of dog toys, stretching out on the couch or flopping down next to her humans. Ultimately, she compromised by laying on a dog bed altogether too small for her, with both her toys and admirers nearby.

"She is shy at first," explains Kenzie Miller, Events Manager at the Animal Rescue League of Iowa, "but actually warms up really quickly. She's a very sweet, sweet dog!"

Noni enjoys taking life slow and will do well in a calm home with older children. She's also willing to make friends with other family pets. Note that Noni is bow-legged. She was born with the condition and doesn't let it stop her from enjoying all the world has to offer! However, her future family should be aware this can lead to medical problems as she ages.

The Animal Rescue League is proud to announce a new partnership with the Canine Country Club in West Des Moines! ARL Club WDM will provide a temporary home for up to 30 adoptable dogs looking for their forever home. You can volunteer at the ARL to help these pups on their way to adoption. Not a dog person? No worries. The ARL has a variety of programs, letting you spend time with adoptable pets ranging from cats and gerbils to horses and chickens.

You can also support the ARL by becoming an event sponsor. The Animal Rescue League of Iowa organizes over 100 different events every year. These extend past adoption events, including more unique options like the Poorly Drawn Pets: Drawing Party and Howliday Bingo. Event sponsors not only help the ARL fund these events, they also ensure it's affordable for families to bring their new furry friends home.

It's time to step up the pet pictures you send friends and family! Join the ARL for Santa N Paws for a holiday photo shoot with your pet. You may even encounter Iowa Live host Lou Sipolt playing Santa! Multiple photo and holiday card packages are available. Photoshoots are available now - November 17th.
